When it comes to web design and UX, it’s not often that you get to work with a tattoo artist, but for this digital project, the Heavyweight team were lucky enough to do exactly that.
18 Sisters is a new whisky brand based in Canada, soon to be launched in the UK. The business is part of the Pernod Ricard group, which has a unique portfolio of premium international brands – one of the broadest in the drinks industry.
The design work would be completed by the 18 Sisters team then handed over to the Heavyweight team, who were tasked with using the exquisite artwork to create a strong and distinctive experience for the visitor.
The design process was led by Samantha Smith, a hugely popular tattoo artist based in Calgary. Samantha’s Instagram page highlights the incredible skill and talent she possesses, with certain examples of her work covering the majority of her customer’s bodies.
Assets were handed over the Heavyweight team, who were tasked with developing the animations and scrolling mechanism which would bring the design to life.
The website was built on Cornerstone CMS and developed to incorporate the best practices in SEO and UX. The Heavyweight team were delighted to be able to animate and craft a website around original artwork, enabling creative license throughout the project. Parallax scrolling was used to deliver an engaging experience for site visitors, while animations were created to bring Smith’s creations to life.
The website was launched in May 2019 and the team at 18 Sisters were delighted with the results.
As the brand becomes more established, the website will grow, as more content and functionality is required. As such, the Heavyweight team ensured that additional pages and artwork can be uploaded at a moment’s notice. The 18 Sisters website can be viewed here.
