Project
Vodafone
Code of
Conduct

The business

Vodafone Group is a British telecoms conglomerate that operates across Asia, Africa, Europe and Oceania regions. The business has over 313 million global customers.

The brief

Vodafone was looking to transform a static PDF, which outlined their Code of Conduct, into an interactive digital product with the goal of increasing employee engagement. Strict brand guidelines had to be adhered to and the project had to be delivered on the Microsoft Sharepoint Online platform. We were also asked to recreate their offline document for use by senior and external stakeholders.

The design & build

A wide range of content and digital assets, including video, text, imagery and infographics, were incorporated into a fully responsive bespoke platform hosting the Vodafone Code of Conduct.

In-depth analytical functionality was incorporated so that employee progress and engagement could be measured. This will allow Vodafone to make content decisions based on statistics, and to see which areas of the Code of Conduct are being viewed the most.

The content was also translated into 10 different languages, spanning over 30 local markets.

“We would love to work with the Heavyweight team again and would happily recommend their design and delivery expertise”

From the client

“Heavyweight’s relationship with Vodafone preceded the project to refresh of our Code of Conduct, as they had originally been involved in the development of the Pocket Code of Conduct app – the previous iteration of our code of conduct. The team were familiar with this area in particular and were well place to fulfil the project’s scope to refresh our code of conduct and introduce a new interactive digital platform accessible to all 100,000+ employees across multiple geographies. The project presented a good opportunity to provide an engaging digital environment for our employees and locally embed our compliance messaging through the platform.

The Heavyweight team demonstrated creativity, particularly in the initial design and storyboarding phases of the project and as evidenced in the kick-off meeting, bringing lots of ideas to the table but also being prepared to listen and develop a keen understanding of our business, the stakeholders involved and the project milestones to be met. The team were able to successfully adapt to stakeholder feedback and consistently produce deliverables in line with our expectations.

Through the length of the project, I found working with Mike as the project manager in particular, a great experience as he was available to connect, discuss and share ideas, and to also challenge when necessary. Their process to manage the code’s translations, into a dozen languages alongside local variations was well organised and helped us to implement the new code smoothly across our organisation Overall we were able to deliver an innovative solution that was both aligned to the ambitious original concept and reflective of the different inputs we had received. The team supported us through the launch and implementation of the project, by designing and producing a bespoke Vodafone branded launch pack containing chocolates and balloons which went down tremendously well with our employees and helped give the launch visibility, it also demonstrated their care in the final delivery of the project.

The digital code of conduct platform has given us a resource through which to drive our future compliance communications and better engaged with our employees, it also offers us an invaluable insight into which areas dedicate our comms focus, through the use of data analytics. We would love to work with the Heavyweight team again and would happily recommend their design and delivery expertise.”
